Have you taken the time to learn your definition of success in life? Do you know how to find your way to that life of success?

Do you know what you want written on your tombstone?

So many never figure out what they want. They spend their lives just coasting along, wondering why they aren’t happy.

Then they die, and their only epitaph is a name and a couple dates on their headstone.

What a shame.

If you don’t figure out what you want you can’t define success. If you don’t know what success means to you, you can’t set the goals that lead you to that success. And if you don’t have goals that you believe in, and desire, enough to work toward, you never find success.

Benjamin Franklin said, “Many people die at twenty five and aren’t buried until they are seventy five.”

Do you too often sit in front of the television, wasting away hours in a zombie-like state? Do you zone out? Television time is hypnotic isn’t it? Think it over; do you even remember what you watched last night?

If you know your definition of success in life you can stop watching television, and turn those zoned-out hours toward taking your next steps along that path that leads to your goals.

Discovering what success means to you takes some effort. It’s not a tough task, but it does require that you make those brain cells churn to understand whom you truly are deep down inside.

You must know the true you. This takes some deep soul searching. And it takes some time. Listen to the whispers in there. You’re listening for understanding of how you need to live so you experience happiness all through your life.

Your success doesn’t depend on how other people think you should live. It doesn’t depend on how you think you should live. Your success in life comes only when you know in your heart, and soul, how you must live.

What is your passion? How must you live so you feel that passion every day? What career choices provide the kind of work that will fuel that passion? What kind of work will make you happy?

Every person runs into obstacles in their life. Even people who only coast through life with no apparent destination run into problems. When you find the right future for you you’ll look forward to those roadblocks because you’ll enjoy working your way around, over, under, or through them.

You’ll know that happiness and satisfaction wait on the other side. And those people coasting through their lives, not knowing where they’re going or what they want? They run up against those obstacles, and quit. They spend their whole lives on dead-end roads.

So what do you want people to read on your tombstone? Will you leave your accomplishments behind…or your mediocrity?
